Inaugural Posting

Salam and dear all,

Welcome to the unofficial blog/forum of Malaysia Forum London, your local Malaysia Forum chapter.

As part of our continuous effort to bring you an even newer, more creative and more interesting matters to discuss, allow me to welcome you to our pilot project - "Musing all the way".

While we cherish our kopitiam, we in London are of the opinion that there should be a way for us to communicate in a way that is equally efficient and transparent, yet giving more control over the flow of information. We bring this blog to you with the hope that it would help to achieve this objective while giving us some time to come up with an even cooler idea to meet our needs.

Our Facebook page can also be found here.

It is hoped that this will bring people of all colour, creed and background to engage in a civil and fruitful discussion, in line with the wider Malaysia Forum spirit.

Again, welcome to Malaysia Forum London - Musing all the way!

For and on behalf of our community in London,

Azmi

  3. OK, so the way I see it is that the Facebook group will be used for contacting people and sending out invitations, while this will be the more public face that we can reach out to the world and carry out discussions on while being anonymous if we want. Correct? In which case, do we still need the separate website?

  4. I believe we do.

This is just a pilot project to see if this mode of sharing is the best for our needs.

I still believe a forum is the best as we can separate the posts into different categories and arrange them in many other ways.

With blogs, we only have chronological posting.

Until the forum becomes a reality, our website needs to be there. The website would serve as our official public face and also our own public record of our activities. This blog, on the other hand, serves more like a forum or on-the-web kopitiam.

That's the original intention of this pilot project. The final outcome depends on how everything turns out.

  5. agree with azmi. in any case, i think a more static website that also serves as a record of our activities on the malaysiaforum.org website is sufficient.

this blog may or may not continue, especially if we do eventually start a messaging board. let's just see where this goes.

  6. Is it possible to have a 'recent comments' sidebar?
